RE: [pyrnet] Electric Fences??
Re: Underground Electric Fences
Every situation is different. We love ours! When
we're not home, of course Gus goes into his pen.
It's about 40' x 30' with 5' high fence. When
we're home, we let him run around. The invisible
fence keeps him enclosed (10+ acres), and he's
never challenged it. This way we don't need to
keep an eye on him constantly. The invisible
fence is run through marshes, woods, a creek and
horse pastures, and it would be impossible to put
a physical barrier up without damaging trees and
such. Another reason why we don't want to put a
physical barrier around our property is that we
LIKE the wildlife coming on to our property. We
live in the middle of farmer's fields and we love
seeing the deer in our backyard. Of course, when
they get wind of Gus, they're gone. So, our
invisible fence is not useless. It allows Gus to
patrol our perimeter, and this way we don't have
to keep him cooped up. It gives him TONS of
exercise. He can stand in the middle of the horse
pasture up on a hill and watches his domain. It's
the perfect fit for us.
