Very well said Joe! Sariena Joe wrote: You know this has been such an uncomfortable exchange, because you are all very excellent people trying to do your best for our dogs. You are all right, except for the little personal affronts, but rescue seems to just eat us up and spit us out. It is the totally unforgiving taskmaster who is never stilled. It consumes you, exhausts you, emotionally deflates you. It takes your positive energy from the others in your life that are so dear to you as well. It also consumes huge financial resources. It will never end. There are at least 100, 1000, God only knows how many more to take just Gils place. But Mer has him rescued. Maybe he will do some small thing in his life as a result that will be significant to someone. That will be a blessing. Under any circumstances let us all rejoice in the good news, but Linda is very wise and correct in what she said (maybe not how she said it, but I take no trophies in this area myself, so I guess I understand). Take your passions and energy and conserve it for the real battle, it will not be won except in small ways with individual dogs. I don't think anyone has an answer even close, but if saving the "Gils" makes anyone happy, that makes me happy and makes my heart rejoice for even the little successes. I have seen my "Gils" overt the 30 years and will probably again. I am wiser and not so eager to take on the monster without full knowledge that he never stops. In the end I must survive to fight another day. So pace yourself and don't get consumed by the monster. Joe |
