Re: [pyrnet] Fw: [animalrescuers] Spokane, WA Urg List
HE IS SCARED!!!! COMPLETELY AFRAID!! If I had been in the same situation...
I
might have done the same things he did. When we got him outside by the end
of 2 hours he
was completely different. He can sit on command, he can fetch a ball, and he
went # 2 out in
the yard pen...my kids played with him, and loved him, and he returned the
love. The fact is
he didn't bite me when I pulled him out of the kennel, and that is all I
needed to know to
realize he was not an aggressive Pyr.
>
*Please note, just in my experience with canine fear, it doesn't go away
over night. It can come back at any time, without warning, to bite you in
the a.....
It will take a long time for any dog who has been treated in this way, to
learn to trust again. I know you can show him, that all humans aren't bad.
just look what you have done for him already!
>
"Personal note: I know what a dog looks like before it bites...my face has a
scar to prove it.
It took 36 stitches for them to close me up, so you couldn't see my teeth
through my cheek
anymore."
And Gil was not going to bit me, or the kids...if I had thought he was an
aggressive, I
wouldn't have let the kids with him.
>
*I can tell also, but with a fearful dog, like I said anything could set him
off. Example:
Your kids pick up a bat, he's been hit with at bat.....He goes ballistic,
and you on the other side of the yard, can do nothing to stop it.
Please be careful.

This dog may someday make a good Thera-pyr. HE IS A SWEETHEART! We paid to
get
him out ourselves, and we are not releasing him to anyone( If at all) until
I know he is fit, and
feels safe and sound!
>
*Zeus is 98% of the time a sweetheart, it's the other 2% that is a problem.
I'm not saying that this dog is anything like Zeus, but you don't know him
yet. I just think you should proceed with caution.
You said he tried to bite once, it worked for him, as there was no
consequences and it sort of saved him from his fear. Made everyone back off.
My guess, if cornered and afraid , he will use this method again.
Sorry if I'm giving advice that wasn't asked for, I just have had more than
my fair share of Fear aggression, and I am concerned for anyone's safety,
when I hear tell tale sign's of it. Especially children.

Sariena
