Mer, was the dogs name Gilgamesh, or are you calling him that?  Really
great name!  Is he totally matted or just matted in spots?  Would it be
easier just to shave him down at this point, or do you thinks it's ( the
coat ) salvageable?  "If" you need to cut to break into the mats, cut
vertically with the direction of the hair, and slice through, that way it
is easier to break the mat with a wide tooth comb or a mat rake, and it
doesn't show the marks much. Small sections at a time, lots of work, Long
slow process, but then a bonding one as well! :-)

Keep us up to date on how he progresses, I am sure with your attention he
