"I'm sure it will take him time to adjust
after all he has been through, so we are wishing him, and his new home well! Cindy " Thank you Cindy Hi Everyone, We will be picking up Gilgamesh "Gil" for short from the vet. He has had a Microchip implant under his adopted owners Addy...that would be us. We are going to let him rest here with us for as long as it takes for him to build up his confidence and feel safe again."Do you national/hometown rescuers Understand that"! HE IS SCARED!!!! COMPLETELY AFRAID!! If I had been in the same situation... I might have done the same things he did. When we got him outside by the end of 2 hours he was completely different. He can sit on command, he can fetch a ball, and he went # 2 out in the yard pen...my kids played with him, and loved him, and he returned the love. The fact is he didn't bite me when I pulled him out of the kennel, and that is all I needed to know to realize he was not an aggressive Pyr. "Personal note: I know what a dog looks like before it bites...my face has a scar to prove it. It took 36 stitches for them to close me up, so you couldn't see my teeth through my cheek anymore." And Gil was not going to bit me, or the kids...if I had thought he was an aggressive, I wouldn't have let the kids with him. This dog may someday make a good Thera-pyr. HE IS A SWEETHEART! We paid to get him out ourselves, and we are not releasing him to anyone( If at all) until I know he is fit, and feels safe and sound! So Joan hold your reimbursement check, and Linda I wished if you knew about the dog you would have gotten to him sooner... than NOT! Are you really a rescue? There are a lot of families in this area "I am sure" that could foster a dog, if they were made aware of things. Once your heart is held by a Pyr, and you owen one...there is a compassion for all of them. This is a Christian conservative town...go look in the churches for fosters. No one when to walk this Pyr, but us. What a shame. Linda... the information we got from the staff counter was: this dog was believed to have been roaming for over a week, it had no previous owner record, and the police brought him in. Also Gil didn't have 24hours, so I am glad we rushed! Gil is severely matted! Joan, I know you gave me some tips on how to free him of mats without cutting the hair. I didn't write down any of the info, and I had to run...I have a life outside of my dogs. Would you please send me the tips again. If anyone on any list has any tips on cleaning up a very matted and completely be-haggeled Pyr, Please feel free to send them...heaven knows I need advise on how to clean up Gil. I got some Neosporan & vitamin E for the gash on his muzzle. I am hoping it won't scar. Well, that's about it for now. Mer, Melvin, Emmett, & Gil |
