according to my vets you should be able to feel the ribs but not see
them....now, granted that's hard in real thick coated animals, but if you
put your hands on the skin (as much as possible) and feel severe pure rib
cage, you have a problem.  if not, and it's just a typical feel (sorry, i'm
lousy at describing that) they i'm sure they're fine.
