We have to do that with our back gate. Ivy Rose figured the latch out
within minutes of my installing it. We don't have to lock the padlock
(yet) but we do have to be sure it's turned so that it looks as if it's
locked, otherwise she can flip it out. I think it's a game with her.
Fortunately we have no trouble with chewing etc. indoors so always leave
them in when we go out.
