Terry, another problem is also over popularity and over breeding.  GSD's
have been at or near the top since the days of Rin Tin Tin.  Any breed
over produced suffers.  The "good old boys" stock breeders will not sell
better dogs by mass production.  Both by the way they breed, and the
amount they produce for the almighty dollar, they will not produce a dog
that works better.  These people are not the same as the "really old type
breeders of antiquity" that worked and bred only the best to the best to
produce type and ability that provided the future with what we have
today.  These are the people who just want another cash crop and don't
care if the dogs drop dead in a year, just means they can sell more! 
They definitely are not breeding better dogs for the job.  They just
breed dogs for the dollar.  IMO  Cindy
