Actually dogs up to 5 years old have been known to get Pano.  It is a lot
rarer in older dogs though.  Here is a good article:

If it is diagnosed as Pano, Bromelain (a pineapple enzyme) has been known to
be very effective for some dogs in reducing pain/inflammation.
