Re: [pyrnet] Re: AnnMarie

Hi
I usually do not come out of lurking on many occasions but for someone
considering invisible fencing on a pyr, I will. I have heard a few (very
few) say that it works, for my two boys it does not!! (Too hairy ??? just
too stubborn!!!) My older pyr (4yrs) has actually stood over top of the
wire with the fence and collar turned up full, looked back at me and then
walked right through it. He actually had the gall to look like he was
smiling. He then returned quite happily when I called him back (probably
the only time he's ever returned on a recall) When I first had it installed
it he acted like it was working (I wanted him to have space to run, but did
not want to have to put a 6 ft fence around 2 1/2 acres, so installed
invisible fencing. The people at invisible fencing said they had numerous
pyr people using their system, what they neglected to say was these pyr
owners like me will only use it if they're out with their dogs). But as
both of my boys have proved the fence is there, they know its there (they
don't like the noise from the collars, if anything will deter them this
will), but if they want to leave...well we all know our pyrs, they are a
determined lot when they put their minds to it!! My two cents, now I will
return to whense I came.

follow Shakespeare anywhere)
