[pyrnet] Staph Infections - Immune System

Pyr lovers,

Hope you can shed some light on a problem my Paddy has.  As you may be aware, 
the staph bacteria is a common bacteria found in mammals.  Paddy is not able 
to fight off the staph bacteria and has constant rashes and infections from 
this.  Recently I had several skin scrapings, cultures and biopsies done to 
be sure this was the problem and all tests have come back as staph.

My vet has put him on Baytril (we already tried Keflex, and Clavamox which he 
could not tolerate as he became ill from them).  

My questions are: is the inability to fight off the staph infection a sign of 
a compromised immune system?  I am concerned that this may lead to other 
infections.  Is this likely?

I would appreciate any information any of you may have regarding staph and 
immune systems.  My vet is very helpful and she sees Paddy weekly for 
checkups to make sure he is doing OK, but I would like to hear the opinions 
of Pyr fanciers.  Have any of you ever encountered anything like this?
