I can only speak from my limited experience (we now have 5 pyrs), but ear 
problems can arise.  Nothing major, or life threatening, but a nuisance.  Our 
one male seems to oscillate between a bacterial infection and a yeast 
infection in his ears -- even with regular cleaning.
