Re: [PyrNet-L] Rescue Pups with Blue eyes
Cindy,
Are the dogs adults with blue eyes or pups that remained
blue eyed beyond the normal length and turned into yellow eyed adults?
In my experience I have never seen a blue eyed adult pyr and have
never known of a blue eyed pup/yellow eyed adult that was deaf.
In fact, there is little reported deafness in the pyr breed.
Why don't you ask this on other dog lists too? Would be interesting
to get more opinions of people who have actually seen pups or adults
like this. It would also be interesting to find out where the author
of the
article received this information.
The GPCA Health Comm. Report (March 1999) reports 8 cases of deaf
pyrs, 0.47% (percentage of total dogs), 0.1 (youngest diagnosed),
15 (oldest diagnosed). If anyone is interested in obtaining the GPCA
Health Comm. Report mail $5 to GPCA Judges Education Comm.,
PO Box 3395, Gettysburg, PA 17325-3395.
