Brandy,  it is different when a dog exercises him/herself than when we
take them out on a leash and walk them.  A lot of serious injuries occur
among the heavy/large breeds from inforced walking, especially at such a
young age.  Which is why this discussion came about.  People will do it,
but it is not what is always best for the dog!  Cindy.
