Robb, actually I wasn't really joking in my reply.  There are a few
breeds that have extra digits, and they all live and work in mountainous
and hilly regions.  They do use these extra toes for traction and
stability.  I've seen mine hang off them when they are trying to gain
purchase on firmer footing.
