[PyrNet-L] New to List & Pyrs

Hello All,

Just would like to take a moment to say hello. About 6 weeks ago a very
strange turn of events brought me to a 11 year old Pyr named Gordon wandering
in the Florida heat in the middle of a two lane road. He almost got hit by 2
cars in front of me. So of course I had to stop and invite him into the air
conditioned borrowed car from my Mother-In-Law. Turn around go back home
explain to my wife I needed her help to get "something" out of the car. After
she calmed herself we coaxed this 145 pound furball out of the car. This alone
took fifteen minutes. We put "Guilty" our 3 year old Bullmastiff outside and
invited Gordon in. I missed my conference call at work but Gordon was happy.
He finally ate some hamburger and rice and stole our hearts in the process.
I couldn't wait to get home that night to see him. When I got at 12:30 am
Gordon was laying on the couch with my 2 1/2 year old son and 8 year old
sleeping. Well that night from my office I got on the net and found Mrs Ingram
and Scott Cook for advice. Gordon and I stayed up till about 4 am watching the
GodFatherIII. The next morning I must have called 100 vets askiing if they had
a Pyr in their practice that the owner may have called in missing. We called
groomers etc. We put up signs in the area I found him in. We went to a park
with him and Guilty to introduce them on neutral ground which went very well.
I was off that night and we found the owner that same day. She came over at
7:00 pm and Gordon was happy to go home. After we gave the owner the low down
on invisable fencing. We had to take his collar off because it was too tight.
I know she never took my advice but some people will never learn. Now I take
the long way to work everyday to make sure Gordon isn't wandering. We stop by
on occasion and give him cookies. Life has not been the same since. We miss
the big white carpet/pillow. Anyway we plan on adopting a rescue Pyr soon. So
I will be speaking to you all and I look forward to meeting you all.
