Re: [PyrNet-L] Spratts Postcard
In a message dated 99-08-04 20:20:08 EDT, you write:
<< Feed him-as your best friend-as he should be fed. Avoid soft,
sweetened or medicated foods. Give him SPRATTS biscuits dry and see that
every cake is stamped "Spratts Patent" with a "X" in centre" >>
This sounds like an advertising postcard for the Spratts Company. Would you
mind checking the stamp on it for me? It would be interesting to know if the
stamp has small holes in it - making a letter or design. You see, this is
what is called a "perfin", and companies and organisations used them to mark
their stamps. While many of the perfins are identified, it is always nice to
have one on an original advertising postcard. Confirms its authenticity.
Thanks! Robyn
