Re: [PyrNet-L] Pyreness

Welcome to the list, Tony, and to pyr ownership! That's one lucky pup! I'm
really impressed that you were able to get a non-socialized puppy to
respond to you so quickly...a clear indication that the pup was meant to
be yours! We have a shy dog, shy by some quirk of nature, not lack of
socialization, and she too came immediately to us, at 6 years of age, when
she would not go to anyone else....and still won't. I hope you have a
fenced yard....the main thing everyone will tell you is that you can never
really let a pyr run free. They are bred to protect large tracts of
mountain land; our two city dogs believe that the greater Boston
metropolitan area is their personal responsibility! Try to contact other
pyr owners in your area...that was very helpful to us, and will be
particularly so for you in the absence of a knowledgable responsible
breeder. And this list is a mine of good information, great stories, etc.
You're in the right place!
Ann, Peg, Paddington and Ivy Rose (you probably won't be able to stop at
one either!)
