Re: [PyrNet-L] New to the link
Hi Lauri
I have electronic fencing in an attempt to confine my boy. It works great
if there's nothing of interest on the other side, otherwise he walks right
through it (does't even flinch). The unfortunate thing is that there is a
lot of fur between the posts (on the collar) and the pyr. Pyrs also appear
to have a higher pain tolerance than some other dogs, so the little zap
transmitted from the collar is nothing (the ping that the collar transmitts
before the zap is the real deterent at least with my fellow). .Some people
shave the area just under the jaw (by the throat) so that there is better
contact. I have not done this and it might work better if I did. Instead I
make sure that he's never out on his own and he's with me when he's out.
Otherwise, he's in the house or in the kennel with a large run. That has
been my experience with the electronic fencing. If anyone else out there
has any ideas, the imput would be greatly appreciated.
Ciao, Heather
