Re: [PyrNet-L] Sad Story of Poor Fat Pyr

Many times owners have no idea how to care for a pyr, especially if
they receive no breeder support. All we can do is offer information
and hope it's accepted in the manner presented. I now carry several
info packets in my car, never know when I will need them.
The hardest thing I've had to learn is to contain my temper and offer
the information in a kind and sharing way. After all it's the dog
that might benefit.

And it is not just Pyr owners - I had a Keeshond in my care last year -
picked up at a local shopping centre. His coat was totally matted and
filled with dirt and grit and he had an obvious thyroid problem (half his
body was hairless leathery black skin). It took three people (myself and
two Kees Rescue friends) about a day and a half to get the matts out of his
coat - bags and bags of hair. We were just preparing to bath him when the
owner turned up. We did the same thing - advice on care, containment etc
and tried desperately to hold our temper.

I did lose my temper the next day, however, when the dog turned up back at
the shoppping centre. Sometimes people just don't want to listen.
