[PyrNet-L] HEALTH: Clondike's Miracle Anal Sac Cure

Clondike is determined to get into the veterinary journals one way or
another. Not only has she achieved a 4 week remission (and counting) from
lymphoma after only 3 treatments of a protocol that is supposed to
require 10 treatments, but she has also demonstrated remarkable response
to a new treatment for an anal sac infection.

Both lymphoma and chemotherapy are immunosuppressing, so Clondike has
suffered a number of minor, but irritating infections, generally in the
urinary tract and anal sacs. In an effort to avoid oral antibiotics, our
vet has tried packing the anal sacs with Panalog, Topagen and Betadyne.
None of these worked without the additional help of oral antibiotics.

Last week the one glitch in our plan to take Clondike to the National
Specialty was a mild anal sac infection discovered on a routine exam--not
from any symptoms. One of the other vets in our practice has been
experimenting with using a human burn cream called Silvadene (silver
sulfadiazine) on resistant anal sac infections and our regular vet decided
to try it. The cream has to be thinned (I'm not sure with what) and then
it took a cat catheter to get it in one of Clondike's sacs that has built
up a lot of scar tissue. The poor, weak, cancer patient was able to buck
at least a foot in the air with me and two big vet techs hanging on for
dear life, but we managed to get both sacs infused.

Well, tonight her anal sacs were almost empty, showed no sign of infection
and were MUCH less sensitive. The vet packed the sacs again to be sure
we wouldn't have any problems on the road, but feels we have a full cure
with no oral antibiotics needed.

An added side effect of this cream is that it is a skin softener, so
Clondike will probably have the softest butt in Chicago and the vet won't
have to use hand lotion for a week!

I hope this helps someone out there someday. Clondike's vet was really
excited by the response, but then I think Clondike is one of her favorite
patients.
