Just a note:
Diabetes insipidus is a disorder of the pituitary gland characterized by
intense thirst and excretion of large amounts of urine.
Diabetes mellitus is a disorder of carbohydrate metabolism,the
pancreas,utilization and/or secretion of insulin and characterized by thirst
and excretion of large amounts of urine.
Cushing's disease is hyperfunction of the adrenal gland also characterized by
intense thirst etc. but also loss of hair,skin changes and a pot-bellied
appearance.
Addison"s disease is adrenal gland insufficiency characterized by
fatigue,weight loss,and GI symptoms like diarrhea.
All are known to occur in dogs.
How old is Seamus?Sounds like you've got a good investigative vet.Good
luck,and we'll all be anxious to know what's going on.
