Re: [PyrNet-L] HEALTH, CHAT: Anybody read this book?
<<"Heinerman does not believe in spaying or neutering since it "deprives
animals...of the emotional joys associated with giving birth and
parenting," but he fails to address the health benefits of those
procedures or the fate of unwanted offspring.">>
The guy seems like - sorry - a ninny. Can you picture a male dog strutting
through the neighborhood handing out cigars? How about the female who's not
particularly overjoyed about the prospect of all that labor just to give up
the pups? Maybe she wants a career, say as a Llama herder or junkyard guard,
instead of motherhood.
To apply human societal "norms", which are merely intellectual exercises
anyway, since we all have free will, to domesticated animals would be
laughable if the impact wasn't so terrifying. Can you picture slaughtering
even more millions of puppies and kittens to satisfy this guys imagination of
moral superiority in allowing unfettered reproduction? Chilling. Stop me
before I go on too long......
The sad part is, someone somewhere will read this book and actually believe
this claptrap. Result: little ones.
What can we do??
