Re: [PyrNet-L] Chat:Home with our puppy
Catie,
You mentioned your new puppies as being just shy of 8 weeks old, I believe.
Wasn't it just last week or so that you mentioned them just being born and
you couldn't wait to pick one out??? Did you end up getting ones from a
different litter?
Also, I know you've been asking a lot of questions lately to educate
yourself about the breed. I'm one of the relative newcomers to Pyrs, but
I've listened and learned as others have imparted their advice. One thing
that's going to be REALLY tough now is that you got two puppies at the same
time. One Pyr puppy...ESPECIALLY when you've never had a Pyr ever
before...is going to be quite a handful. Also...any puppy no matter what
the breed deserves it's time of "puppyhood" and attention. Now that you
have two...your first two Pyrs ever...not only have you compounded how
tough it will be to raise a Pyr from a puppy...but you've also taken away
that puppy's "right" to your undivided attention and love. There's many
who've raised puppies together successfully...and not so successfully.
There's also those who believe that it's best to wait a little while before
adding another dog/puppy and let the first one grow up some. This has
seemed to be the most successful. Good luck and enjoy the little
...relatively speaking of course...cuties.
