Joe,
Lambasting all children for the sins of a few children has always happened.
When I grew up I can remember the same thing.  There will always be those
people who see children as a collective unit and that they are little evil
creatures.  However, it has always made me wonder what the adults at that time
did when they were kids.  Plus the fact that nowdays, the pranks that we used
to do as children are now considered major offenses.  I can remember building
big bonfires of leaves in the street, soaping windows at Halloween, and just
childish pranks.  When I started dating I can remember my parents having a
curfew for me to be in at midnight.  God only knows what a boy and girl could
get involved in after midnight.  
I have long felt that for every brush with the law that a child has, the
newspapers should print at least 2 articles about the good things that kids
do.
