This is an *excellent* example. Whoever said Newfs were "dog-submissive" sure didn't
know the Newfie I have. He's 8 mo old now and pesters the other dogs to no end (wanting
to play constantly). Well-up until recently <G>. I waited and waited for the Pyrs to put him
in his place and they'd just look at ME and do nothing. Well, the other day my Newfie
jumped up on my 5 yr old male Pyr wanting to play. The Pyr grabbed him and rolled him so
fast I'd have missed the entire thing if I hadn't of been standing there. He just grabbed his
ear, rolled him in a second, stared at him and walked off. The Newfie laid there belly-up
and tucked his tail and ran off as soon as the Pyr walked away LOL!!! I wish I were as quick
and effective in my discipline with my 2 yr old son <BG>.
I think with dogs who clearly see "us" as alpha, we really can mess things up if we step in
too soon, you're right.
