[PyrNet-L] Clondike is "Cool!"
Clondike, the 11 year-old Pyr bitch who is being treated for lymphoma, got
some good news last night from our holistic vet. She has been on a
Chinese herbal "cancer support regimen" which is supposed to help her body
fight off the cancer and to rebuild the damage done by chemotherapy.
In Chinese medicine cancer is viewed as "tangled Chi," a sort of short
circuit in the body's energy flow. This causes "heat" which the trained
practitioner can detect by feel, and sometimes relieve by accupuncture or
accupressure (but not with generalized cancers like lymphoma). In any
case the vet said Clondike is now so cool he wants to take her off the
herbs for 2 weeks and then evaluate her condition. We may alter her
formula, or it is possible she may not need them any more.
In any case, I'm taking this as a very positive sign. The vet also
said he likes Clondike's weight at about 100 rather than the 95 our
general-practive vet has recommended (she REALLY liked that news)!
She continues to romp around and drag us through town on these cool
evenings, so for now, things are "cool" with Clondike. We see the
oncologist every 2 weeks and keep our fingers, toes and dew claws crossed.
