[PyrNet-L] pet insurance

Hello all-
Recently several posts have referred to the difficult choices we face when our
pets face life threatening (and costly) diseases or injuries. I have
Veterinary Pet Insurance for my dog and I recommend it to you all. When my
Pyr, Tuckerman, was ill last spring (he was ultimately diagnosed with a cancer
of the urinary tract) I was able to make decisions about tests and treatment
for him knowing that I had support in paying for these services. His total
bill was about $1,000 of which the insurance paid about $600. The company was
prompt and reliable in paying for all covered services.

When I got my new puppy, Bridger, this summer I enrolled him in the same
program. This time I decided to pay a little more for "Routine Care Coverage"
in addition to the regular insurance. This includes coverage for annual
innoculations, heart worm medication, neutering, and many other standard care
expenses. I don't know if the savings would hold up for households with
multiple dogs, but it sure helped me. I never wanted to find myself in the
position of having to making a decision about my dog's care based on price.
Years ago I had Medipet Insurance (offered by Fireman's Fund) but they went
out of business. I'm glad I found Veterinary Pet Insurance before Tuck got
sick. If you'd like to look into Veterinary Pet Insurance, the number is
1-800- USA PETS.
