[PyrNet-L] Miller Lite and Puppy maltreatment

I made this call. And man did I hit a guy with attitude.
I asked him if they intended to recall the ad, and he
said no. I asked if there was anyone else I could speak
to and he said no.

I told him I would never again purchase a bottle of their
beer, and it didn't bother him at all. Anyone else have
a better response on this than I did?

Hello list,
I just got this from a friend and thought it was something that should
be
thought about ...especially in the holiday season when so many are
considering
buying puppies for their kids...

There is a new Miller Light ad running on TV. It shows
>a group of people surrounding a puppy and playing with it.
>Then someone brings over Miller Light Beer. You don't see
>the group anymore but you hear the puppy yelp in pain. Then the
>puppy appears on the screen as if it has thrown and the words
>appear over the puppy: "Miller Light, Man's Other Best Friend".
>The commercial implies that they discarded the puppy because
>beer was more important. There is an "icky" feeling of animal
>abuse when you watch this ad. It seems like Miller Lite is
>trying to appeal to the "lower element" in this commercial.
>Only those that would abuse an animal or think little of one
>would find this commercial entertaining. Even some of my
>non-rescue related friends have brought this commercial to my
>attention as they were also disgusted by this ad. The commercial
>seems to imply that the puppy is disposable and not important
>once the beer arrives and makes it acceptable to treat a puppy
>as if they were throwing away an empty beer can. I'm sure
>that Miller was trying to be cute and funny but it doesn't
>come across that way.
>
>Miller Brewing Company keeps a daily record of complaints about
>TV commercials. They fax the complaints to the people in charge of
>the commercials on a daily basis. Please call 1-800-645-5376 and
>tell Miller Brewing Company that this commercial is not acceptable,
>that it endorses mistreatment of animals, and that it makes you
>think of their company in a negative manner. Tell them you will
>no longer be purchasing any of their products in the future since
>they care so little for animal welfare.
>
>PLEASE make this call. Every call counts to this company and
>they take complaints seriously.
>Thanks,
