Re: [PyrNet-L] Pyrs easy to train???? NOT

I also use clicker training. And yes, I think it works wonders. I'm
another who doesn't think pyrs are hard to train. I think they are
incredibly easy to teach. I haven't used Tellington Touch but have
used something called Animal Energetics which I think is similar
and comes from a book "Catch Your Dog Doing Something Right"
by Cantrell. When I'm teaching any dog in this house when they
are newbies I really really insist on putting the relationship between
me and them in place first because my relationship with them
affects their performance at accomplishing anything. You know if
you go around to yourself saying pyrs are willfull and stubborn and
they'll never learn they more than likely never will learn.

This comes from "Catch Your Dog Doing Something Right" and it's
Seven Qualities of Successful Dog Handlers.

1. Act enthusiastically
2. Teach, do not train
3. Eliminate judging and negative thinking
4. Insist that the relationship come first
5. Believe mistakes do not mean failure
6. Use five-minute schooling sessions
7. Catch a dog doing something right.

You know dogs are like kids and another analogy is planting a
garden. Dogs grow the way they are cultivated.
