What I call a BYB!
A small or not so small breeder who has very little knowledge of the
breed.
May own a breeding pair, or just a bitch or stud dog and breeds with
someone elses dog, with no knowledge to the background, temperament
or genetics of either dog.
Has done no health checks on either breeding pair<OFA etc.>.
Does not educate a prospective buyer on breed traits.
Sells puppies to *anyone without any screening as to what type of
home they will have<fencing, etc.>.
Sends very little information with the pup, as most of the time, they
don't have the knowledge in the first place. The buyer then
eventually forgets who the breeder was.
Does not have a
spay/neuter contract on companion or working dogs, or at least
recommend it. Is the type person the buyer of the dog will not
contact for help.
Is not responsible for *their offspring for the life of that dog.
Is not concerned about the welfare of the breed.
And my really big irritant are those who breed pups to sell out in
front of Walmart for $50, to make money and they do make money.
This type of breeder is the reason for most rescues. They can be
found in the city, on small and large farms and even large ranches.
So maybe BYB is not an apt name.
