Indeed! She's a combination shape-shifter/Houdini. When she first came to
us in April, we continually discovered flaws in our pyr-proofing! Shelley,
her mom and predecessor, had tried out all the escape possibilities, but
she and Paddington were willing to go along with my minimal "marking" of
the off-limits areas....rose and vegetable gardens, etc. Not Ivy Rose!
Any minute gap was enough to entice her to check out the possibilities.
And if I turn my back on an open space for a minute, she's enticed
Paddington in with her!
We replaced our deck gate. Our predecessors in the house had an expandable
thing that Paddington never tried and Shelley didn't trust: she'd put her
paws on the fence alongside when she wanted to bark at someone on the
street. They don't try to go over, because there's quite a drop the other
side, and I'll never believe they don't have great depth perception. But
Ivy would come leaping from the back yard and throw herself on the gate
and we could imagine her going right through. So we built a substantial
wooden gate, nice and solid with a good latch....which took her half an
hour to figure out! So now we have a padlock through the latch and so far
she hasn't figured out how to get *that* out!
