[PyrNet-L] Air travel.....

Can anyone give me some pointers on air travel with my pyr?
I've never flown with a dog before, but I'm considering taking her with
me rather than kennel her for a few days.
The flight time is just over one hour, and is scheduled for later in
October (to Milwaukee, WI) so I'm not concerned with temp.  She will be
6 months old by then.

Is one airline favored over another with regard to pet-friendly skies?
What is the "check-in" procedure at the airport? (how long before the
flight takes off do I have to leave her?)  I know this is airline
specific, but I'm concerned about how long she has to wait before being
loaded onto the plane, until the time I can see her again when we land.

Any advice is welcomed.
