Janice you are sooo right.  Consider this.  Sounds like there is a lot of
emotion and tension in the family i.e. brother in later stages of cancer and
other things you mentioned.  This breed is soo sensitive to us, it is possible
he is picking up the emotion from you and the family and the result is a
spastic hemorrhaging colon.  If all else fails try removing all solid food,
but be careful to give liquid that will nourish.  Give the colon time to heal.
If the blood is bright red it indicates the lesion is far down.  Try to remove
the dog from the tension it may be feeling from you and the family.  Probably
impossible, but the awareness of the potential problem might make it possible
for you to mask some to the tension the dog may be feeling.  Just a WAG (wild
ass guess), but consider all possibilities.  It would not be unusual for the
breed to relate to problems or tension in the family.
