[PyrNet-L] puppy pre-school

Hi! This is Kathy. I don't usually do the chatting but thought it would be fun to share Heidi's pre-school experience with you. Last night was the first of 6 lessons. Heidi was not invited. Only parents were allowed to attend the first class. That was so we could be shown the basics of puppy training. Since it is a known fact that puppies learn faster than their humans, we received each demonstration at least four times. We will be training our pups to look at us on command, sit, come when called, stay and maybe we'll start heeling if all goes well. There are ten puppies in the class, including a pitbull, a bull mastiff, a peke, a saint bernard and sundry other pups whose genre I cannot recall. The trainer, Lisa, has a 4yr old collie who has won all sorts of championships including k-9 of the community & is certified as a companion dog (hope I have all that correct since I do not show my doggies & am woefully ignorant regarding awards). I apologize if I stated said awards incorrectly. Our next lesson is on Wednesday of next week. Heidi will be joining me. I am very proud of her progress from the little workouts I've been doing with her at home. She will already look at me when I say "Heidi, look at me". Of course, she will also look at me when my husband says "Heidi, look at me". More on school next week.
