[PyrNet-L] STRANGER/PYR
Hi everyone,
Well, this was quite a pyr day!
Jonah was going pyrenees ballistic, this afternoon, around 1 PM. Far
more than the usual, growl and woof patrol. He was into action with a
purpose! He galloped and barked, up and down the border's of the
stockade fence, by the road. He threw his body weight onto it, in
attempt to crash it down. He was dead serious. When I had gotten the
message loud and clear, I called Lexi to guard and out of the house, she
bounded with me. Immediately, she picked up the scent and leaped over
Jonah, over a dead log, to the upper driveway gate. Try as she might,
the gate is 8'. This frustrated her to no end. She then began racing to
and from the same area that Jonah had patrolled.. Still following the
fence line.
My curiosity was at a paramount. With bathrobe and slipper's, I ran
over to see what the commotion was. I stood high up the horizontal
wooden braces of the fence, until I could see over it. I did a double
take. There was my neighbor's black dog accompanied by a Great Pyrenees.
If I could have jumped the fence, I would have done so right then and
there. Now, understand, that as fart as I knew, there weren't any other
pyrenees, for 50 miles. I back tracked. Racing through the trees and
bushes, trying to meet this fabulous pyr. As I ran, Jonah, ran too. Ran
right into me! My right foot turned the wrong way and I sprained my
ankle, as he knocked me over. Did this slow me down? I think not! I ran
and hobbled over to the outside of the fence. I called for this stranger
pyr boy. I looked, I saw, there he was, he was 20' in front of me. As
our eyes met, his tail wagged a very happy wag. My face smiled a very
happy smile. It was like a movie. <g> We skipped and hobbled to each
other. I knelt down. He greeted me in that pyrfect pyrenees way. On my
side, he pushed into me and sat down. Gobbling up, with glee, all the
love that I gave him. As is the norm, in a famous kind of way; when a
Pyrenees wants attention, they give you their paw. He did. Again and
again. He loved to be scratched and cuddled, in all those pyrenees
places. Of course, I've been trained well, so, I knew all the right
spot's. <g>. Throughout this romantic love scene, Jonah and Lexi watched
it all. Vocally, letting us know, that this was most unacceptable.( We
were in the driveway. The fence there, is partially, wired. Giving the
mush ball's a great view.) They were absolutely, furious at me and at
him. I gave him some water and a lotta' mush. The babies, finally,
calmed down a bit.
Eventually, I told him good-bye. I had remembered, that I had meet
him once before. He lived about 10 miles away, not 50. I remembered
that, his owner's knew my neighbor's and hoped that, all would be well.
I went about my business, of rinsing the muddy pyrs and reassuring
them that there wasn't a dog or person in the world, that could take me
away form them. <BG>. Then, I put my foot on ice and rested for a couple
of hour's. Later, once again, Jonah & Lexi, were barking up an unusual
storm.
I looked out to the driveway, only to see, you know who! The pyr boy,
stranger. He did not want to go home.
I called the neighbor's, that I thought knew his owner's. Sure
enough, they immediately asked me, "if I had a big white dog there?"
The husband came and got Lockley. But, not without, Lockley,
insisted upon a long good-bye first. <BG>
It was all I could manage to do, not to give Lockley's Dad, an
enormous lecture, on the peril's of letting a pyr run free.
What a day!! My foot's sprained, but, I have a standing invitation,
to visit Lockley! <bg>.
Take good care,
Judith, Jonah & Lexi
