Re: [PyrNet-L] Pyr puppy wanted
Janice, Your situation sounds wonderful and most unusual. It also sounds
like the exception. Breeders who ROUTINELY sell pups for $200 litter after
litter are flooding the market and cannot take the time and care given by
your breeder of one litter to insure each pup goes to a good home. Many of
these animals do show up in Rescue or worse. I don't know Sharon of
Tarabasque. Her question was "Why would you sell a pyr puppy for $200?."
She said she is a breeder. Most breeders frown on the situation of
producing pups in mass for cheap prices. Some believe buyers will place a
low value on the animal because it was "cheap." That doesn't mean ALLl
buyers who buy a pup at a low price will not make great parents. Obviously
you and the other owners you mention are wonderful homes. To help insure
that pups go to homes that will treasure, cherish and care for them, some
breeders place a higher monetary value on them. That doesn't mean that in
many instances I, and probably others, will GIVE a dog away IF we are
almost certain that animal will be loved, treasured and cherished as if the
owner had paid thousands of dollars for it.
Please don't take offense at that post as I don't believe it was intended
for the wonderful people like you who have given a Pyr a great home.
