So last summer, I spoke with her breeder and I/we decided that it was okay
to have her clipped down to 1.5 - 2". Well, when I picked her up from the
groomer, she acted like she had gained 5 years back on her life. I could
almost hear her say "I'm Free!!!". >>

I was going to let this drop, but Karen makes a point that I was trying to
convey, of course she said it better! <G>

Echo is much more bouncy after her cut. I feel that she actually prefers it.
I was totally against it, but my husband one day had had enought of the fur in
the house and decided to try it. When I saw how happy she was, we decided to
do it every spring. We have been doing it for about 3 years now and have had
no problems. In fact Echo does have skin problems and when her fur is short
it does not seem to be as bad, it is almost as if whatever is bothering her
skin, is being held in by the fur.

Echo is only 6.5 but sometimes she acts like she is 10 (I have my doubts about
her breeder, I am getting ready to take her in for testing on her hips and
arthritis) but as with Karen's Shelly Echo shows a definite change in
personality when her hair is short. She is a good girl with grooming, but I
can tell her patience is wearing thin with it. She will do as I ask but there
is a definite reluctance when it comes to brushing.

I would never suggest that clipping this breed is the right thing to do for
all but for Echo it seems to "work".
