Re: [pbmserv] Explanation of Go ratings on this server?

How do the ratings numbers used for Go on this server correspond to the normal Go rating system of Dan and Kyu levels?

Essentially they don't. The system used is similar to those is used for Bridge and Chess: When you win you move up, when you lose you move down, with the relative scores of the players determining the amount of movement. As I understand Go ratings, history does not matter. If I have played only one Go game in my life, and I beat a 9 Dan with no handicap, then I am presumptively a 9 Dan.

I would vaguely guess that 1600 is about 9 Kyu and every 50 points is one level higher, but that is very, very vague.
