[pbmserv] Druid tournament
Hi,
You are invited to join the inaugural Druid tournament, which will begin on
February 14th.
A brief summary of Druid can be found here:
http://www.gamerz.net/pbmserv/druid.html
A more in-depth discussion including some tips on strategy and tactics can
be found here:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
CONDITIONS
Preliminary rounds will be round robin and involve one game against each
other player in the pool. Final rounds will be knockout and involve the
best of three games; one each of Druid, Druid's Hex and Druid's Y.
The player to start each game will be drawn randomly (the second player may
use the swap option). If a player is drawn to start two games in a
three-game fixture, then the opponent will automatically start the third.
Undos are not permitted. Players should therefore take extra care when
entering moves on a complex board arrangement, and double-check their
coordinates on the bird's-eye board summary shown below the main board.
The use of AI to analyse moves is encouraged (provided that the tournament
director gets a copy of the source code).
Maximum 7 days per move.
PRIZE
First prize will be a copy of the book "Hex Strategy" to be posted to the
winner. I will participate in the tournament, but in the unlikely event
that I win, the prize will go to the most successful non-Cameron player.
If you would like to participate, please express your interest to camb
(cameronb@optusnet.com.au) by February 14th.
