Hi all,

Now that the final round of the 2002 Pente tournament is winding down,
it is time to sign up for the 2004 tournament. ( I have skipped over the
2003 tournament.)

Now this year will be an open D-pente tournament.  D-pente is the same
as regular pente except in the opening -- the first player's move O is
automatically made to K10 as usual, then the second player places THREE
stones (X, O, X). Now player one has the option to swap, and play
continues normally from there.  The opening is designed to take away the
advantage of moving first. Even though player 2 has had good success in
the 2002 tourn, I think it is a good time to try the balance of D-pente.
