To anybody who has had a game with me of some type or another, i have lost
my internet access; will try to get it back sometime over the next few
weeks.
The only games i regret resigning are those where my opponent actually
thought enough about me to engage in a conversation independent of the game.
For there are some "gamers" (for lack of a more appropriate word) who think
that conversation is a "waste of time", or "a delibrate attempt to slow the
game down". They are the very same people who have wasted my time and
effort, because life does exist outside cyberspace, and there are more
important things to do than "to play frivilous games".
One thing that's more important than "frivilous games" is maintaining a
friendship; and maintaining a specific friendship is the sole reason i'm in
the unidecathlon (which didn't include Shogi) and doublechess tournaments at
all.
My point is simple: When you're making your next game move, keep in mind
that your opponent is in all likelihood another human being. For ai-bots
can give you a game, but humans can offer so much more.
