Hi Everyone,
Here's a puzzle for Go experts and those interested in Go variants. The
game is Gonnect (rules attached below).
Black to play and win:
> 8 - - - - - - - x
> 7 - - x - - o - -
> 6 - - - o o x x -
> 5 - - - o x - - -
> 4 - - o x x x - -
> 3 - o o x - - - -
> 2 - - o - - - o -
> 1 - - - - - - x -
>
> A B C D E F G H
This puzzle was printed in Abstract Games Magazine #6 without the Black
piece at G1, which unfortunately made the puzzle invalid.
As far as I can work out the puzzle with the extra piece is now valid. Can
anyone disprove this?
Thanks,
Cameron

GONNECT
Gonnect is a new abstract connection game. It uses the basic rules of Go
(each player drops a stone into an empty cell in turn; stones with no
liberty are captured; there are no suicides; players cannot repeat the
previous board position) with the simplification that players may not pass.
Gonnect also has a much simpler winning condition: a player wins by
connecting a group of their stones between any two opposite edges of the
board (or the adversary has no valid move).
