Well, I misunderstood. I thought that Borderline has something is something
in the xiangqi.cpp code, my mistake. It might also been me that has
put the num-array in the code without using it.

I have just downloaded xiangqi.cpp from ftp.gamerz.net and if that is
the currently version then it still looks very much like the code I original
wrote.
So I after all able to answer most questions about the code.

Can you also try to fix the checkmate problem ? or do you want me to do it ?
