(I'm just catching up on email, so I apologize if this
has been mentioned.)
An extension of the above idea is that if I'm out of
.50 ammo and can only get 5.56 and 9mm, I also now
have some amount of lead to cast bullets from, and
enough smokeless powder to make an equal number of .50
bullets, assuming I've saved my brass. Being able to
turn unusable bullets into usable ones seems very
valuable to me. Yeah, I can keep those I can't use for
barter, but no matter how good a deal I offer, if the
trader has no .50 I can't get them from him.
