[HOE] a real mutation

I caught a little bit of a chow last night called "More Than Human" kind
of a Ripley's beleive it or not kind of thing. they find people who have
done or can do amazing things, study them and try to figure out why they
can do what they can do. 

The part I saw was about a 17 year old girl climbing champ. she's
defeated champion speed climbers and in her first competition not only
did she beat the reigning champ, she broke the world record by 4 seconds.
Watching her was amazing. She can climb rock faces and climbing walls
like a spider and leap over crevices and from under ledges like a monkey.
they put her through various physicals and determined that not only was
she in perfect shape but had an incredible sense of balance and how to
hold her body. It still didn't explain how she could pull he self up on
the tiniest of handholds. She could climb walls up and down using her
fingers only; no leg work, no thumbs for extra grip. When they found out
about her talent to do pull ups using only a single finger on each hand,
they took a look at her hands. They discovered her fingers were about 25%
longer in proportion with he body than the average human. Typically a
human's arm span is a couple inches shorter than their total height.
her's is quite a few inches longer. her knuckles are also broader and
stonger. these conditions made her a perfect climber. 

the next question was; WHY? 

She was bitten by a radioative monkey.... 

okay, not really but close. when she was 3 her family moved to africa and
to serve as missionaries. they lived their for several years where the
girl got a pet monkey from the wild. She would follow her monkey
everywhere, even up into very tall trees. at 4 years old the human mind
and skeletal structure are still in development and can adapt into a new
way of growth. for this girl, spending nearly every hour of every day
watching a monkey move and climb and immitating it and following it where
it could go, she mutated and evolved.
