Taint you say? Think about what the Unity was built for and by. The sole
focus of this ship was to save Vanessa Hellstrome from Hell through a
military assault. Sure, he eventually found another way, but that's what is
etched in the very nature of the Unity's existence. Oh yeah, and the
"powered by a demon" thing. ;-)
Powers: Pieces from the Unity drain energy from manitous and other creatures
from "Hell." Weapons made from the Unity can automatically affect these
creatures and do an additional 2d4 Wind drain on a successful hit.
For larger devices (of Size 5 or larger), the creatures suffer a -1 penalty
to all rolls for each full 5 points of Size (-1 for Size 5-9, -2 for Size
10-14, etc.). This penalty is in effect whenever the demon is within a
range equal to the item's Size in feet. Furthermore, should a demon go bust
on a roll while within this area, it permanently loses a die type from its
Spirit, and any Spirit batteries the item uses become fully charged as they
drain off its energy. If the demon's Spirit is reduced to less than a d4,
it is instantly destroyed.
Taint: First off, the Unity doesn't discriminate against types of demons.
Harrowed suffer the penalties just like anyone else, however, the Spirit
drain does only affect the manitou. Of course, the down side is that if
their manitou is destroyed, they die permanently as well.
The second problem is that the owner of the item slowly gains the
Hindrance, Loco: Must save Vanessa Hellstrome from the demons of Hell.
This may seem ridiculous as Vanessa is not in Hell anymore, but as Marshalls
may know, there is still one demon that she might be rescued from. Play it
up as a true Loco hindrance for your Lost Colonist who doesn't know any
better, but it could later lead to an interesting story when it becomes
obvious that the owner makes Vanessa Hellstrome very nervous and "accidents"
start to occur around him.
Anyway, just a thought,

"You smell that? Do you smell that? ...Ghost Rock, son. Nothing else in the
world smells like that. I love the smell of ghost rock in the morning. You
know, one time we had a hill bombed, for twelve hours. When it was all over
I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' Yank body. The
smell, you know that sulphurous smell, the whole hill. Smelled like...
