THE STORY SO FAR:

When last we left our intrepid heroes, they had just finished gathering
any useful items off the bodies of several gang members while some
tentacled horror attacked the rest of the gang. The posse discussed their
options and decided that the best course of action would be to approach
the cell block containing the unknown abomination from a different
direction; therefore, they began to back-track to the main building of the
complex (based on the assumption that previous unexplored areas contained
another corridor to the cell block).

Upon reaching the main building containing the dining area and kitchen,
they remembered that they had not yet explored the building's upper level.
Hoping to find something useful to combat the unknown danger that could
apparently wipe out an entire gang, the posse began to explore. They
discovered a small library, a simple meeting room, a weight room, a file
room, a living area for the guards, several offices and cubes, an armory,
and the prison chapel. The prison chapel contained the most interesting
and disturbing finds: before the priest's podium (and surrounded by human
bones) was a large bomb. The bomb was 3 ft. in diameter and had a large
crack along the side. Immediately worried for the safety of the party,
Rabbi Weisenberg called upon his radiation-granted ability to detect
radiation levels (also known as Geiger vision). Thankfully, no radiation
seemed to be seen coming from the bomb. The party began examining the
bones and noticed that they had no obvious signs of damage (i.e., no
broken bones, no obvious teeth marks, etc.). However, during the
examination, Buffy noticed that none of the skulls had teeth, nor were
there any teeth on the floor - they were simply missing. Additionally,
Rabbi Weisenberg discovered many green robes with the symbol of the Cult
of Doom piled in a corner. No one could determine what had happened in
this room, but it did not look promising.

After completing their examination of all the other objects in the room,
the posse focused their attention on the bomb. Knowing something about
explosives, Rick (assisted by Buffy) attempted to remove the explosives
from the bomb and create a new functional one. (After all, one can never
know when a bomb might come in handy.) Unfortunately, he was
unsuccessful.

The only other room that yielded anything of interest was the old armory.
Buffy was able to find a riot helmet hidden in a cabinet and Rick
discovered three 12-gauge shotgun shells in the back of a drawer. Armored
with the new helmet and carrying torches made from the femurs and rags of
the Cult of Doom, the party returned to the lower level...

They soon discovered a security door that might have lead to the cell
block, but the posse was unable to unlock it and did not have any means to
open it. Therefore, their only option was to retrace their steps back to
the cell block.

Upon returning to the cell block, the heroes were greeted with an open
door, inviting them to risk their lives for their curiosity. Not only
that, but the bodies of the gangers that they had previously fought in the
corridor had apparently been dragged into the cell block. The posse
carefully entered the room, only to discover that it was empty; or rather,
it was empty of life. The skeletal remains of the gang could be found
lying where they had apparently fallen throughout the cell block. The
remains of the gangers from the corridor were also discovered next to the
door. After a quick search, the party discovered 6 lever-action rifles,
an auto-shotgun, 4 SA Officer's sidearms, twelve .30 caliber rounds (for
the rifles), three 12-gauge shotgun shells, and eleven .50 caliber rounds
(for the sidearms). The posse also determined that since the other door
to the room was a locked security door, the only entrance/exit that the
unknown horror could have taken was the air ducts that ran behind the
cells (and were missing grates). Oddly, the grates were only 3-4 inches
in diameter, which suggested that the abomination could alter its shape.

With the storm raging outside, Ian determined that the best thing to do
would be to entice the creature to attack the group, under conditions that
they controlled. Therefore, the Rabbi and Buffy took a position in the
middle of the room, on the first floor and roughly 10 feet from the only
open door. Ian and Rick took positions on the third floor, each across
from the other. Once everyone was ready, Rabbi Weisenberg began loudly
instructing Buffy in the many Jewish customs and beliefs.

After roughly ten minutes, Ian noticed a fleshy pseudopod extending
through the cell bars behind Rabbi Weisenberg. A single eye on the end
was intensely watching the Rabbi. Ian immediately attempted to summon
arcane power from the Hunting Grounds in order to blast the pseudopod with
energy (brain blast). He succeeded in summoning the energy, but failed to
actually hit the pseudopod and only succeeding in scorching the floor
nearby. With this open shot, the battle was joined...

A second pseudopod from another cell joined the first and attacked Buffy
and the Rabbi. The pseudopods were like molten flesh, covered in eyes and
having odd mouths filled with teeth. As Rabbi Weisenberg and Buffy
engaged the pseudopods in melee combat, Ian and Rick fired on the
pseudopods with ranged weapons. The party soon noticed that the
pseudopods seemed to be rapidly healing most of the damage they caused.
Only the wounds caused by Rabbi Weisenberg's radiation blasts (atomic
blast), Ian's mental blasts (brain blast), and the torch wielded by Buffy
seemed to remain unhealed. Eventually, Rabbi Weisenberg succumbed to the
pseudopod's attacks and was rendered unconscious. That pseudopod
retracted and soon, the oozing bulk of the creature began to fill the cell
to which the remaining pseudopod lead.

It was at this point that the horror stopped moving, apparently too badly
damaged by the party to continue the fight. However, since it was still
healing its wounds, the posse continued to bash on the creature -
determined not to allow it to rise again. This pause in the creature's
attacks gave Rabbi Weisenberg the needed time to rouse himself and
instruct Ian to retrieve the lye that had been previously discovered in
the prison laundry. Ian rushed to the laundry, leaving the recovered
Rabbi, Buffy, and Rick to continue pressing the attack. Several times the
oozing horror recovered enough to lash out at the group, but each time,
the party was able to render it immobile once again. At the end of the
battle, Ian returned with the drum of lye and spilled its contents onto
the abomination, instantly burning the flesh and causing the ooze to lose
its cohesion.

The battle over, the posse enjoyed a few hours of rest before the storm
abated and the scavenging group from Roll was allowed to return home, with
a new friend in tow...
