[HOE] Fightin' and Facin'

In the Last Crusaders book it mentions that hand-to-hand attacks to the rear
180 degree arc of a person causes that person to lose their weapon's
defensive bonus against that attack.  In Waste Warriors it mentions that
hand-to-hand attacks from behind and surprises cause the defender to lose
their Fightin' bonus to the attacker's TN.

Which of these are correct?  Or are both?  If the latter, it's REALLY is
deadly to for a brainer to be surrounded, even if he is a kung-fu master!
