Cameos of creators is a common thing in Movies

McFarlane is a bum in Spawn(not that anyone watched the movie long enough to 
notice)

Stan Lee likes to show up in all of his Marvel creations(He's in Spiderman,  
Rumor has it he will be in both Hulk and Daredevil as well)

Peter Jackson is in LOTR(I know he didn't create LOTR but hes the director 
and co-screen writer)

If they ever made a Deadlands Movie,  I would be upset if Shane didn't show 
up in a scene somewhere.  He's even be easy to pick out since he would be 
only character in the movie not played by Bruce Cambpell :)
